this week has been so effing crazy, you guys. i am finally all moved in to the new apartment (HUZZAH) and i am going to spend this weekend unpacking and getting settled in. and writing. i am so far behind on nanowrimo. SUCK. there will be chinese food tomorrow though. i have been dreaming about it all week but i have been cruelly denied lo mein time and time again. I SHALL PREVAIL!

anyway. the say anything show on wednesday? was so fucking good. one of the best this year, definitely. i enjoyed the miniature tigers, and i was not crazy about the second band, and i would have liked eisley more had the lead singer not been the lead singer (she was pretty boring. i really liked the songs where sherri sang though), but say anything were just outstanding. outstanding boys, outstanding setlist, outstanding crowd... "ahhhhh... men" is going to stick with me for a long time, is the thing. it was so good that i seriously considered trying to get a ticket to the thursday night show even though i obviously had to finish cleaning and packing thursday night. SO GOOD.

and it was national unicorn appreciation day! i usually do a lot more, but i was obviously way busy and unable to bake or cut up the children's unicorn halloween costume i bought or do anything else exciting. i need to start putting together a plan for 2011 though, for serious.

(oh man. epic discussion on twitter right now because a lot of us listen to "crappy" pop music and bunny is pained by this. weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.)

i took tonight off to watch castle and eat too much pasta and now argue about music, but i am going to unpack everything this weekend, write at least 12,000 words, and set up the holiday card thing. and if i have time left over, i am going to paint 400 pete wentzes in [info]momebie's room while she's away. :D

this is possibly my favorite icon ever. for obvious reasons.

i feel like i should put a disclaimer on my lj about how wretched i am at responding to comments. or posting comments in general. if i don't respond as soon as i read the email notification, i tend to forget all about it until the next time i clean out my inbox. and my inbox has been very uncharacteristically (are there too many letters in that word?) messy lately, so...even worse than usual at responding. *sucks* I AM JUST A NATURAL LURKER, OK?

in news that is less about how useless i am: OLP! TWICE! DECEMBER! EEEEE! tickets have been purchased! and possibly third eye blind again, cos they are coming back the day between those two shows. and i keep stealing [info]momebie's awesome friends, so it will be an even MORE exciting weekend!

hm, what else? kl and i got the sexiest effing calendar for the living room tonight. no, not the rpattz one. or the high school musical one. it's old pulp art. hotttt. and the second volume of the umbrella academy got released early, so i picked that up! no sign of [info]rachelcaine's new one, sadly. it officially comes out next week though, so i'll survive.

oh, and the TAI show last night was aweeesome. except for the part where the opening bands were 100% horrible. but then we had bill and bill's suspenders and bill's adorable need to act out each song as he sings it. and the rest of the band! woo! heh. such fun. i have to cut down on the all ages shows though, because i really cannot handle these kids who wear cardigans as dresses. BUY SOME PANTS. (i can't stop talking about this either.)

tl;dr blah blah about why i don't hang out on lj much anymore. )

unrelatedly, there is no way i am going to complete my book goal for the year. 100 books was way too ambitious (although, to be fair, work was so slow that i hardly had any reading time this summer) and i feel like crap knowing i won't get there. i really dislike not meeting my goals, urgh. i read a decent amount of stuff that was both time-consuming and outside my comfort zone (several non-fiction books, for starters), and i should be able to hit at least 75, but still. unhappy. need to decide if i want to set a smaller goal next year or work harder.

i blew my shows goal (15) out of the water though. 22 so far, not including all the random sets i've caught at the community market. and i'm going to at least 4 more this year. (TAI, say anything, olp, the olp/patd/say anything/every other band ever show, and then maybe the mountain goats, maybe joshua radin, almost definitely damion suomi next week, and i might check out the anti*pop festival even though there aren't really any bands listed that i care that much about. and i'm still considering the cobras show haha. AND there's still a lot of unclaimed dates on the calendar. so at least i can feel good about this one.)

ON BOOKS:
read cape storm, the latest weather warden book by [info]rachelcaine. YOU GUYS! so good. SO GOOD. so many declarations of love & kisses! a VENNACORN!! kevin being an awesome dickface! etc! i am going to be crazy sad when this 'verse finishes. i'm glad that she doesn't want to torture jo anymore (and really, what's left to do to her at this point?) but i will miss lewis like crazy.

also recently finished the second scott lynch book (red seas under red skies) and HOO-BOY, i love him. the first half was not that exciting, but once they became pirates the book turned awesome. both excited and nervous about the next one- i'm kind of afraid of how it will end D:

and i read a little more than a third of kushiel's dart before getting permission to give up. there were way too many characters, and i really don't care about the politics of a ridiculous and made-up world. i feel like i fail at being a fantasy fan now. (i may give it another try, cos the library finally let me renew it. hm.)

ON MUSIC:
the new olp album has mostly grown on me, but it is by no means their best work. some of the songs are just completely terrible, and a lot of them sound the same. raine's a decent producer, but he should probably not be producing his own albums. ("paper moon" is still amazing though.)

i went to see the cab, a rocket to the moon, eye alaska, and...two other bands? rocket are totally adorable and really good. i was digging eye alaska a lot, and their bassist is super-cute. i am still not a big fan of the cab. i want to awesome, super-friendly, and ridiculously adorable drummer from summer set (or whatever they are called) to find a band worthy of her awesomeness. all in all: MUCH FUN WAS HAD. also, much liquor was had. these things may be related.

the fall concert schedule is starting to get interesting. i need to un-poorify myself so i can see some fuckin' shows.

ON TV:
we mainlined being human today. it was pretty awesome! i love how watching things with vampires always leads to "but i thought vampires [x y z]" and then a largely ridiculous debate on different vamp mythologies and their pros and cons which then leads to shunning people who have never seen buffy. weeeeeeee, friends!

ON THE INTERNET:
[info]momebie started this awesome project called Scattering Stars which you can learn more about here. it basically involves drawing on photos and making people smile though, so you have no excuses for not participating.

collabing with some friends ([info]theemdash! [info]marilla82! [info]momebie! you!) to make an awesome wizard rock directory / calendar / general site thing. tomorrow is layout til i die day! woo! relearning html (and teaching myself php / div layers) is hard but fun. i'll never be a great designer or anything, but i like the actual work of coding stuff so i think this is gonna be a good project. i'm really glad i have friends who nudge me until i dive headfirst into this kind of thing :p

:D :D :D :D :D

YOU GUYS. the show was so good. SO GOOD. the full band version of "start + stop" is seriously one of the most amazing things i have ever heard. "transmitter failure" was just as epic live as it is on the album. "last person" with all eight of them was AWE. SOME. it was made even better by how much they were all (very obviously) enjoying themselves.

jukebox the ghost was fantastic. their drummer is pretty much adorable. lots of energy, and lots of sound considering they are only three tiny boys.

after the show i harassed jenny and bought some merch. jenny has agreed on atlanta, eventually. (she said that she was surprised atlanta wasn't on this tour and that she plays there, which, i don't think she has in the past two years? but i could be wrong i guess.) she also said florida is too long. heh.

i met up with a girl from the jenny boards and we had an in-depth dish session before the show started. i could obviously talk about jenny all day every day, but it was super-awesome to be able to have a for realsies conversation about her and her music. (i think i was a douche and left without saying good-bye? maybe? i am fucking exhausted, sry.)

(speaking of being fucking exhausted: the ridiculousity of virginia cannot be fully described to you in my current state, so here is a brief view of the awesome sleep i got saturday night. first i fell asleep sitting on the couch, and was woken up by my aunt was screaming because there were two bats in her room. then i pulled out one of the sofa beds and fell asleep, but i woke up because my retarded uncle put all the wood he could find in the fireplace and i was dying. then i opened the door for a while and tried to go back to bed, but my uncle climbed into my bed and took my blankets. then i took the cushions off the couch and slept on the floor in my parents' room for a couple of hours. then my dad woke me up and gave me his half of the bed for a couple of hours. and then i drove 700 miles! AWESOME.)

ok i am fucking tired still but i need to find food and hit the road because it's a stupidly long drive back to orlando. woo.

ugh, i am way behind on lj again. i don't know why this keeps happening! (wait- yes i do. [info]marilla82 calls me and says "come get dinner with me" and i think "yeesh, i am so exhausted i can barely stand up" but i say "okay!" and then we end up watching a zac efron movie. !!!)

also, last week was the fall out boy show and it was SO GOOD. UGH, THEIR STUPID FACES. massive amounts of fun were had, but i hardly slept for two days straight, and i had 15+ hours of overtime last week, and then stayed out way too late friday night. i am still somewhat zombie-like! good times!

also also, i was fucking pwning BEDA on my tumblr, and then last week happened (helped jessica make a video, fall out boy show, 12 hour shift, the insanity that was friday, etc) and i screwed it up. goddamn you, pete wentz!

anyway, the reason i am updating: BOOKS! just bought cathy's ring (usually i would take something like this out of the library, but it comes with ITEMS), salt & silver (by [info]octette/[info]lalejandra andddd someone else. idk. it doesn't matter, cos anna is one of my fave fic writers of all time ever and that's all that matters), and death's daughter (by amber benson. YEP!). i am almost excited for what i'm sure will be an excruciating work day tomorrow (12 hours at one of my least favorite hotels, probably with my least favorite electrician).

the other reason i am updating: now jenny, her mom, and several of her other crazy fans are encouraging me to drive all over creation (if by "creation" you mean "the southeast") to see her in may. they are starting to wear me down. anyone want to come on a roadtrip?

(and damion suomi, that local boy i love so much, will be playing in town three times in may and i can't go to any of the shows. URGH. the one at park ave on 05/16 is free, so if you are local you should go. he is totes adorable.)

[info]barbed_whispers
so, drove up to decatur, ga yesterday for the allie moss/bess rogers/allison weiss show. made stupidly excellent time (average speed: 76 mph. WHAT?) and had absolutely perfect weather. now have stripe of sunburn on arm between ridiculously tan area and ridiculously pale area (also known as the gap between where my work shirts end and my t-shirts begin) and it is pretty stupid looking.

got to the show, talked to allison and bess, did my usual whining about how nobody loves the south, drank the best latte ever, & fell ass-crazy in love with kavarna. (so, the happy place i have been going lately when working in a cubicle becomes too much involves an epic fantasy in which i open a bakery / performance space. kavarna is basically exactly how my completely made-up establishment looks. it is kind of eerie.)

a local boy (tyler lyle) opened. he was good. i recorded one of his songs, but i am not futzing with the camera tonight.

allie and bess had chris kuffner (and each other) backing them. it was SO GOOD you guys. i love all three of them a crazy lot, and it was such a small place and i was right up front so it was really awesome watching them work their collective magic. they played (collectively) an acoustic, a bass, a uke, a mandolin, a glockenspiel, chris's magical drum-set-in-a-box thing, and a couple of tambourines. it really was pretty magical hearing the sounds the three of them could produce in this little coffeehouse. i'm super pissed at myself for not recording two of allie's songs, but i got all of bess's set. it was pretty dark in there though, so i might just salvage the mp3s. they played mostly songs off their new eps, but they each played one pretty new song (from their night in progress sets), which is awesome because i am really in love with their new new songs. (i love the eps too, hang on.)

so then allison played and completely blew me away with her energy and skill. (i mean, i was already a fan, but damn.) it was just her and her acoustic, but she rocked that joint. the crowd wouldn't stop cheering so she played an encore song. the whole thing was just awesome. got most of her set's audio (someone came and sat in front of me, so i didn't even bother with video after that) but my battery died at the end. *sadface*

talked to allie after the set (♥[info]marilla82), bought all my merch, and peaced out. managed to get lost in atlanta, then managed to get un-lost without asking for help. this is incredibly encouraging, because it means i am not as much of a failure as i used to be! woo, competency!

slept like crap, found some caffeine, and drove home in terrible weather. on the plus side, allie's ep sounds really good in the rain. like, really really good. i love it so freaking much! bess's ep is also awesome, and allison's full-length got me through a particularly dreadful patch in georgia. all in all, this weekend was a success :D

i take requests now.
[ds] rayk's words of wisdom
[info]barbed_whispers
first of all, i do not recommend seeing third eye blind the day after finishing s2 of veronica mars. (this may ruin many fond memories of yours, but here we go: stephan jenkins is starting to look like woody goodman and IT FREAKS ME OUT. dude's in his mid-forties though, so i guess it's to be expected.) (yes i said mid-forties FUCK i feel old)

second of all, their new album is allegedly coming out this summer. they played several songs off it, some of which are excellent. (and some of which contain the line "and she said, 'why can't you be like a waterpik shower massager, a sweet reliable machine'" !!!) basically they would play a new song, and then stephan would say "now it's your turn" and play something we could all sing along to. it was a sold out show (according to the band), and the crowd was really into them with the screaming and the singing and the throwing panties on stage.

here are the songs i remember them playing, in no particular order because i am pants at remembering set lists: semi-charmed life, jumper, god of wine (they played this right after i was all "*sadface* i wish they'd play god of wine" and I WAS A LITTLE EXCITED), motorcycle drive-by (FUCK YES), never let you go, losing a whole year, graduate, how's it going to be, wounded, slow motion (just stephan on guitar, and this is when i made the face and wished for god of wine), and crystal baller. and off the new album: non-dairy creamer (pretty awesome), a bonfire, why can't you be, what you need is a sharp knife, and maybe 1 or 2 more? i can't remember the other one i really liked that they played in the encore, ugh. it was a really long set, with a three or four song encore and a couple of really fantastic solos and a lot of crowd participation. i think the only thing they could have done to make this show better for me would have been to open with anything, cos it's my favorite AND it's just an awesome fucking opener. (i have an annoying tendency to start mixes with it like, ALL THE TIME.)

(they are doing a full tour to support the new record, so everyone peeing their pants in jealousy should keep an eye out for them this summer.)

i am weak when it comes to concert announcements.
[hp] funnification
[info]barbed_whispers
so, i am driving up to decatur on easter to see bess rogers, allie moss, and allison weiss for a number of reasons. (1. that is as far south as allie and bess are coming. 2. when else will i get to see three singers i love on one stage? 3. jenny just announced the first leg of her tour and she is only coming as far south as virginia. 4. fuck you, virginia. 5. the last time i saw jenny, i actually had a mild seizure when bess walked on stage cos i wanted to see her so badly. 6. i like roadtrips. 7. easter is the most rock n roll holiday.) mostly those reasons boil down to me being dumb, but i don't care. it's only 8 hours each way! (i am skipping work on monday, obvs.)

so i was debating going up on saturday and just hanging out in decatur/atlanta, doing some sightseeing, etc. i've never really done any touristy shit in the south. but then i noticed that they are playing in nashville that saturday, and nashville is only ten hours away, so i could theoretically do both shows! which is extra awesome, because who the fuck knows when any of these people are coming back south?

here's where you come in: PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A BAD IDEA. and while you're at it, talk me out of getting bangs.

i find it disproportionately amusing that five years ago i spent a stupid amount of time flirting talking about third eye blind and getting fob and death cab lyrics whispered in my ear (oh produce boy. and yes, this is the actual facts reason i started really paying attention to these bands), and now i am going to see all three bands this spring.

it is SO WEIRD to see my entire youth parading around the country, but i kind of love it. (also on tour: no doubt! gavin rossdale! the dude from everclear! getting back together: our lady peace! a bunch of other bands i didn't actually care about the first time around! and i mean, they are making a vampire diaries tv show! if someone is not trying to make 16 year old me happy, then idek what is going on. i mean, PAUL SIMON might go on tour, dudes!)

(yeah, i said our lady peace. they have a new album coming out this year and they have played a couple of canadian shows. raine is producing the album and it allegedly sounds more like naveed.)

(everclear guy's show is only $8 at hard rock! that one album pretty much defined my existence in hs, but i don't know anything else by him/them. hmmm.)

[etc] cos love is overrated.
[info]barbed_whispers
i started the learners by chip kidd today. nhnfcs MOAR CHIP KIDD PLS! i am really happy (hah) with how he dealt with the narrator's name, which is something i was kind of concerned about. (his narrator has no name, which is how it should be. but he goes by "happy" cos that's what winter called him ♥) i am also really happy that about two years before i start thinking i might want to do something, chip kidd writes a book about it that makes me realize i am insane. and i am happy that i can realistically pretend that the narrator is from nj, even though he is actually probably from pa.

anyway, this means that i finished abhorsen by garth nix. DOG♥! i always have a bit of trouble getting into this one, but then it has one of the best endings ever and i have to try really hard to not be an expressive reader cos i'm at work and it's embarassing.

(oh yay, library just got more books in for me! i almost wish the social was brighter so i could read between sets. also, they are giving away free tickets to the show i'm going to friday, so if anyone wants to see that local boy i love and some other bands i've never heard of, just email them! (hm, it sounds like he made some changes to his old songs that are on the new album and put the new versions on his myspace. interesting!))

it is possible that i had too much caffeine today.

[info]barbed_whispers
-i got new glasses! they are super-cute! i am taking them back to the store tomorrow because they are making me insane! (the arms are pretty wide and completely cut off my peripheral vision and it is FREAKING ME OUT.) i am going to get the first pair that i liked, but i don't know if i want them in black or silver. (my life is VERY INTERESTING.)

-GMAIL IS MAKING ME VERY CRANKY MAKE IT STOP ARGH. i have comments and links and things i am supposed to be dealing with tonight and IT WON'T WORK. apparently it is something to do with the latest firefox release? idk, but i want it to stop :/

-this is going to come as a big surprise (especially if you know how much of a shallow freak i can be), but my favorite character on fringe is not peter. i mean, i love him, and not just cos he's played by an actor i used to have a creepy shrine to. but he's not my favorite. astrid is. she is made of pure win, you guys! and she is very pretty! and i just love her! and the girl who plays her is coming to d*c yay! i don't imagine that i will care enough about this show to attend any panels, but it still makes me excited haha.

-OH MY GOD VIXY IS NOT WORKING EITHER. internet, pls stop hating me D: i sacrificed (...hee) several hours this week watching videos so i could rip some stuff, and {s notwuhking! >:| >:| >:|

-i am reading this REALLY AWESOME book right now. it is a handbook to luck and it is by cristina garcia and i don't know how to describe it. it is regular fiction, and it follows the lives of three people (a boy from cuba, a girl from iran, and a girl from el salvador) as they grow up. and whatnot. i liked its cover ages ago, and i am finally getting around to reading everything on my list, so i took this out of the library and said "holy shit this sounds stupid" and i fully expected to hate it but HER WRITING. SO GOOD. bfewwbs i am really enjoying it. i was almost sad to spend my morning gossipping with my boys instead of reading. ("almost" only cos these two particular boys always bring me the best gossip.)

-speaking of gossip, it appears that someone at work has started a rumor about me wanting to date one of the boys. (someone came up to me and told me that he was very shy and i therefore need to be more assertive. !!! i should have assertively shoved my foot up his ass.) i don't really have a problem with the rumor, cos lord knows i start worse rumors all the time, but we can't figure out who started the rumor, so it is driving me crazy. starting rumors is MY job, dammit! (as a sidenote, i only start completely false and ridiculous rumors. i gossip about some true stuff, but it's always stuff that is basically common knowledge that just hasn't made the rounds yet. i never bring actual facts into my trufax rumors, unless they are completely taken out of context, such as "those two were both 'OUT SICK' yesterday. WHAT A COINCIDENCE! nudge nudge wink wink!")

-back to books: just finished everlost by neal shusterman. i can't tell if i read a lot of books about the afterlife, or if books about the afterlife are just really common. either way, this was a book about the afterlife. really interesting concept, mostly interesting characters, fairly uninteresting story. would probably read a sequel though.

-now some music: okay, besides the INSANE amount of patd i've been watching on youtube, i've been listening to a lot of mason jennings, jessie baylin, and meiko. and the usual stuff. and i'm waiting on pins and needles for matt nathanson to announce his tour. (if he doesn't come to orlando with jack's mannequin, i am going to death cab instead, assuming there are still tickets whenever this whole this gets sorted out.) allegedly (according to some random youtube user, YES THIS IS MY LIFE) jenny's album is coming out in may, which is mostly awesome, but means fulfilling my creeper quota for the year is gonna be hard cos there's no way i can fly up there in may for a cd release party. sadface! buttttt that means (a) summer tour! summer! the glorious time when i can take gratuitous days off of work to travel the southeast for shows! and (b) bess and allie will have released their eps and can maybe accompany her! oh! unrelatedly! my favorite music magazine is baaaaaack! at least on the internets! oh chart, i've missed you. (yeah, my favorite music magazine is canadian. what of it?) and wrock this weekend! which is extra good because i have basically done nothing the past three weekends besides sit on my couch and watch tv/movies.

-lately i have been filled with the almost irresistable urge to go to tom sawyer island and be a jackass. please tell me someone else has this urge and wants to accompany me.

weeeeeeeeeeeee! so many awesome concert announcements this week! mason jennings! death cab for cutie! matt nathanson! i haven't checked my calendar yet, so assuming it's all clear i am def. going to mason, probably going to matt (only probably cos it's like, $34 at house of blues and he's opening for some band i don't know), and seriously considering death cab. and i'm buying fall out boy tickets this weekend (just waiting for a check to clear) (crap, general admission sold out this week :/) and also tickets to see some guy i don't know cos damion suomi is opening for him later this month.

i am also still somewhat considering driving up to ga to see bess rogers and allie moss, but i really don't think that's a good idea. (it would be an EXCELLENT idea if the show was a saturday, but it's sunday and monday. laaaame.) (i wonder if allison weiss is playing that weekend. that might make it worth it?) (I NEED TO STOP PLANNING THIS.)

oh and i won a ticket to universal via that superbowl commercial thing, so i am going to see the barenaked ladies for freeeeeeeee! i am v. excited about this. (OR mc hammer! or both. are they playing back-to-back? is it weird that i am slightly obsessed with the idea of seeing mc hammer?)

for dinner tonight i am having tomato soup with a side of FREE INTERNETS! <3 panera

SO MUCH TO TELL YOU. the new apartment is pretty sweet, although i have to go through a daily ritual now where one of my electricians tell me i am going to wake up one and day and be 75 and all alone with an apartment full of books. i don't really see how this is a bad thing though? ::shrugs::

anyway, in more important news, the doughty show was SO GOOD. i love how he does not have a set list and just plays whatever we yell at him <3! for his second song, he and scrap played an absolutely gorgeous version of "the only answer" (aka my favorite doughty song) which you can see here, although the quality is not stellar. (and despite the fact that i am definitely sitting in a visible spot and had the biggest stupidest happiest grin on my face, you cannot see me.) (and wow, i am just watching this cos the internet here is so slow, and the volume on his guitar is all but nonexistent! i didn't notice at the show cos i was sitting less than ten feet from him.) he played a really good mix of old stuff and new stuff (thank you, crowd!), but my second favorite was probably "down on the river by the sugar plant" cos seriously, i didn't even know cellos could MAKE those sounds! (it took them a minute to figure the song out cos he hasn't played it in so long <3) all in all it was a really excellent set and he and scrap are so adorable i can't even. oh scrap, arguing with the audience about black holes <3)

(SO MANY HEARTS TODAY!)

the conor show was ALSO good, and was made infinitely better by the company <3 i do not think i am a big fan of his- his music is just not really my thing- but i have a lot of respect for him as a musician? and some of his songs were really fun. i just don't have a lot of patience for his more emo stuff. ::shrugs::

uhhhh WHAT ELSE. i have been watching a lot of movies! i am falling stupidly in love with hugh dancy <3 and i watched the dark knight again and you know? it is still goddamn amazing, ugh. and tomorrow there will be twilight! i nearly died today reading articles about it cos holding in giggles cannot be healthy.

and i've been reading more bandom fic. and weirdly enough, i want NON-CRACK. i want non-crack, serious angst, and i want it bad, and i am having trouble finding it. (i say "weirdly" but i read the most hardcore angst i could find in lotrips too. i only do this in fandoms where the people are real, which makes me feel like a total asshole.) i found some promising links today at work (wot? delicious is totally work-related!) so maybe they will please me. and i am reading one right now that i am enjoying the hell out of (the quickest way to ruin a friendship, if that means anything to you. i can't link you because i have it downloaded, obvs.) so i guess it's not too tragic.

i am going to go watch spn download and take care of some other stuff before my battery dies. <3!!

why does december keep doing this to me?

URGH another december show that i really want to go to but really shouldn't buy a ticket for: sara bareilles & matt nathanson @ house of blues on 12/7. i regret not buying a mraz ticket almost every day, which is pretty stupid but there you go.

it's only $20? haha :/

(also WTF LJ TXT WHY DON'T YOU WORK??)

let's not talk about the obvious.

you guys! you guys, i watched robin hood: prince of thieves last night. it was so good and so bad ALL AT ONCE. there were parts where i literally said out loud "am i watching a parody of robin hood, or did i download the real thing?" and yet it filled my cold dead heart with such love, i can't even. (also it's funnier if you think of every alan rickman character as snape.) (except the metatron. keep snape the fuck out of dogma, plskthx.) (seriously though, did kevin costner not even bother pretending to have an accent? why do i love that man so much?)

also i went to park ave today and bought cds in honor of my new favorite holiday: NOT YET FIRED DAY! (as an aside, park ave is quite possibly my hands down favorite thing about orlando. they give me free concerts!) anyway, i got conor oberst's cd cos it came with a free concert ticket and i wanted to go see him anyway, and i got the only doughty cd i was lacking (skittish / rockity roll). for some reason when people go solo they still get sorted with their former bands, even though i really doubt people are still looking for soul coughing discs. random! (and on the not fired front: who the fuck knows? it might be that she just hasn't hired someone new yet, or it might be that we're not getting fired. we did get yelled at, and someone did try to throw me under the bus, and i did cop a serious attitude later because the new solution to the work not getting done is to make us record everything we do in about 18 places. because if i can't manage to do my most basic job functions, i can totally remember to initial 18 notebooks saying so!)

anyway, this is the best (unintentional?) nerdfighter comic ever, y'all.

all the news that's fit to print:

-mike doughty has FINALLY announced the anti*pop show! he is bringing scrap yayayayay!

-i might be getting fired tomorrow morning. or promoted. idk, my boss is insane. (argument for firing: i am the last employee she called lazy (for no apparent reason. actually, that's a lie. she apparently called me lazy because i told someone i was too busy to do work that was not strictly my job, because i was the only person in my department for four days AND my crazy boss kept giving me the other dept's work.) argument for promotion: it looks like the screw-up that has her panties in a twist this time was done by my supervisor. or not done, as it were.) she's threatened to fire us all before, so nothing may come of this. although i was told that a direct quote from today was "did you find someone new yet [for the position we explicitly told everyone was not replacing any current employees]? because i am going to fire one of these girls." LOVELY.

-i will have electricity at the apt! the gas company is giving me issues though, argh.

my sincerest apologies if i infected you.

i woke up sick on friday. it's been going around the office and i was the last man standing, but i swear i felt fine until i got home thursday night (when my throat started to hurt). UGH.

so here is a comprehensive list of what i did this weekend:

-moved my laptop next to my bed.

-watched a ton of movies: lilo & stitch, a knight's tale, becoming jane (the one damn time i want a happy ending...), real genius (i love this movie so much), idiocracy (it was funny), unnacompanied minors (good stuff), most of across the universe (hated it, didn't mind at all when my download cut off halfway through), and burn after reading (entertaining).

-watched that patd halloween song video thing at least 100 times. (no seriously. i am watching it RIGHT NOW.)

-had the following conversation re: my descent into madness bandom:
aren (1:06:59 AM): You are now the wounded gazelle.
lisa (1:07:10 AM): and bandom is the lion?
aren (1:07:23 AM): Yes. The retarded lion of Jon falling over.

-read a patd fic involving mermaids. or a merman, i should say.

-went to the hotel cafe show. (eh. the singers were all good but the crowd sucked.)

-opened a bunch of entries to reply to but never replied because typing in bed is hard.

-finished an abundance of katherines. i liked it more this time.

-went to publix for more drugs. this has, not surprisingly, made the patd video EVEN BETTER.

-slept.
