this week has been outrageous, you guys. i had an awesome weekend, and loved life a lot on monday, and then my car broke down monday night and i didn't sleep hardly at all and the mechanic people were annoying and i was the crankiest girl in the world, for realsies. a nap & a taco & my amazing friends made that all about a frillion times better ♥ (and the car is fine now. the battery dropped dead for no apparent reason and one of my electricians fixed it for me today.)

my hp shirt ended up looking pretty rad. i went with the ron design, cos i loff him. i'm sad that i made it with acrylics and not fabric paint, but that was all i had in the house so oh well.

and of course i went & saw hbp with the local gang. lots of fun was had. i liked the movie for the most part- it kind of dragged in parts, but it's a boring book so that was ok. dumbledouche wasn't treated like a goodamn saint, which made me way happy. (i realized at one point that i respect fucking jon more than i respect dumbles. that's so wrong.) the kids are all pretty outstanding, and tom felton is way hot, and i spent a lot of the night humming songs by draco & the malfoys. all in all, i probably liked the movie a bit more than i liked the book. (and i can't complain about canon changes, because i actually had to ask people whether the christmas scene was canon because i could not remember. yeah, i'm pretty awesome.)

the real reason for this post: i'm going to nj/ny tomorrow night and getting back sunday night. i am way excited. i am not bringing my laptop. sheena & my parents & surf taco & gretchen & west side story & whatever else, hooray!

i got a free dark grey shirt with a black lightning bolt on the front at the matt & kim show last week, so i'm turning it into an hp shirt for HBP on tuesday. can't decide if i want to make it a hufflepuff shirt (with a badger on the sleeve to cover the bacardi logo and maybe some yellow details on the front) or a ron shirt (with a "NO" sign over the bolt, "weasley is my king" on the back, and a red crown covering the bacardi logo). neither of these match the pants i'm wearing! the ron one is probably easier to make though. effing badgers!

also, i sat in a parking lot talking to a friend for several hours last night and didn't get home til 5:30 this morning. i really cannot say enough how much i love my life ♥

i am way way waaaaay too lazy to read lj and see if this is old news, but the whomping willows are playing orlando on 01/24 at taste. admission is $5. who's in?

my hair has gotten to the point where it can only really be contained in (very ridiculous looking) pigtails. i do not approve.

y'all, mini!voldeypants is creeeeeeeeeeeepy. (omg omg WANT MOVIE WANT. even though i strongly dislike the book. whatev.)

WROCK SHOWS: diksnc SUCH FUN. saw harry & the potters (and uncle monsterface and math the band, who are not wrock bands but do rock) last saturday at the social. there was a ton a ton a freaking TON of energy in that room! it was amazing and awesome and a lot of fun. i really especially dug math the band though (bought their album!). also got uncle monsterface's nintendode ep. used last of the cash to pay for parking, sigh.

then i saw justin finch-fletchly & the sugar quills, the whomping willows, draco & the malfoys, and the remus lupins at the library last night. the show was WAY better than last year! everyone was really awesome and rocking and fantastic when we met them after. i bought draco & the malfoys' cd entirely for "99 death eaters" because OH MY GOD YES. alex from the remus lupins broke a string and did a couple of acoustic songs "around the campfire" for us. "remember cedric" was a really awesome fandom moment for me, no lie. (i have a thing for quiet heartfelt sing-alongs, okay?) ALSO, i was not a hermit and actually, you know, left the house and interacted with human beings! will wonders never cease? and i also got a sweet "wrock the vote!" poster and had everyone sign it. yaaaaaaaaaaay. (and then i got incredibly horribly lost-but-not-really coming home. BSBDX DAMMIT. i have been doing SO GOOD with not getting lost! probably because i only ever go to work and the social! whatever!)

MAPMAKING: because i am a tech goddess (well, compared to the rest of my office), my boss has decided that i will make floorplans for each of our hotels and bought this sweet mapmaking program for me to do it in. i almost want to tell him that what he wants would be better in something like psp, but MAPMAKING PROGRAM SUCH FUN. i want one. (it turns out he doesn't want me to DRAW the floorplans, he just wants me to import the hotel's floorplans and use a color-coded symbol guide thing to mark what power is where. which will be much easier than physically drawing every ballroom we work in, but less fun. heh.)

-I'm kind of really excited for The Dark Knight. Have I mentioned that? I think I have. Anyway, it looks completely awesome. And now they have put it side-by-side with the trailer for Batman (one of the movies that defined my whole childhood) and YOU GUYS, SO GOOD.

-We watched The Day After Tomorrow yesterday, and that meant I had to go reread This is the Way One World Ends and cry like a damn baby.

-Can you guys believe I've been in Orlando for a year? (Not a link.) More importantly, can you guys believe that Sirius Black has been officially DEAD for a year? (Still not a link.) How about that HP has been done for a year? Doesn't it feel like longer? (Not a-- Oh fuck it.) Maybe living with Ashley is like dog years or something.

man, i LOVE valentine's day. like, so much. i think part of it is that i really like having an excuse to tell people i love them in horrendously long and often embarassing letters, which i have not written in a long time, which is is probably for the best. (if you have ever been on the receiving end of one of these letters, you will probably be inclined to agree with me.) anyway, valentine's day! i wore pink socks today, but i wear pink socks every day because all but two pairs of my socks are pink. (my swiss socks and squirrel socks are beige-y. oh, and i have two pairs of orange & black striped socks! everything else is pink though.) and then i went to work and got free candy! and then i almost stabbed a coworker, and instead went to a tradeshow where there were cute boys and people talking about how awesome i am. no, seriously, two guys i work with were like "i like lisa! she's even-tempered and quiet and not dragging my ass all over tradeshows all the time!" at which point i burst in with "uh, EVERYONE likes lisa. how could you NOT?" AND THEY DID NOT CONTRADICT ME! i think they ignored me though. not the point! (man, what a fab show. there was literally no reason for me to be there, but i finished the book i was reading and started a second book, so whatev!)

and then i came home and put on my valentine's pajamas (which doesn't narrow things down, but these are my favorites) and reread Seven Things That Didn't Happen On Valentine's Day At Hogwarts, Or Maybe They Did, which continues to be the best thing ever in the whole wide world, and chatted with simplykatie, and read pamie's new valentine's poems, and munched on the yummy cookies my parents sent me, and cuddled with my new awesome unicorn. all in all, an excellent day!

maybe after getaway_machine finishes the alanna quartet, i will post a whole thing in which i think too hard about how i 'ship. but there will definitely be spoilers (and probably some rage, since i will be talking about couples in tortall) so i might as well wait. also, it will probably be really boring.

my grandmother made pecan cups for my mom's birthday and i did not get any since i live 1000 miles away. this is clearly tragic. (i did get my plane ticket home though! hooray! why no, i do not yet have those days off of work nor am i sure about where i will even be working at christmas. none of that matters, because my brother is picking me up at the airport at 11:56pm on december 20th and then i will have about five delightful days to annoy the hell out of my family. i have to make up for lost time, you know.)

You guys, baking should not be this exhausting. Especially because I am not even DONE! Madness. The walnut chocolate chip cookies are done (and came out amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing, I will post the recipe this week) and packed up and everything (they are a birthday gift for my dad), and the shortbread unicorn cookies are done baking and about half decorated. They did not come out as good (I think the recipe I used had too much flour, but they're not terrible or anything. Just a little drier than I like my shortbread) but they are still yummy. And also unicorn-shaped! I need the frosting on them to set though before I can pack them up for mailing though, so hopefully they will be ready tomorrow. Otherwise people will get some ugly messy unicorns!

And yesterday I (finally!) built my OOTP Lego Hogwarts thing. It took me kind of forever, but it looks really cool and I had fun. It's a shame that Lego!Ron has the stupidest faces though. I traded Lego!Hagrid and Lego!Draco's faces though, so now it looks like Draco is wearing eyeliner. Heeee.

I've been reading in between all of this crazy productivity, so I'm almost done with Magic's Whatever, the last of the Last Herald Mage books. I'm enjoying it well enough, but I feel like I could be enjoying it so much more if it was told from a slightly different angle. Which, whatever, books aren't written solely to please me, but now I kind of really want fic to fill in all of the stuff that I wish was actually written in the books. And I also really want to reread the Alanna books, because there are a lot of similarities and those ARE told from my ideal angle. Also, I keep catching myself says "gods" instead of "God" now, dammit! Stupid books.

A troll, a hag, and a leprechaun all walk into a bar...

we went and saw the remus lupins and the whomping willows last night. i was actually slightly concerned that the whole thing would be awkward and weird, but it was actually really fun! and uh, somehow, ashley and i started plotting out this whole sirius/whomping willow fic, in which they have sex because they both miss remus being inside them. you know we're brilliant, don't deny it :D oh, and in case anyone else was concerned, the adorable bassist in the remus lupins is 18, so you don't have to feel like such a perv. i know this is a major issue so i just wanted to get word out there! (also, my brother wants to know if there is a wizard metal band. he was not impressed with the mere rock.)

oh and i got a job today? as a billing clerk at this electrical place. they were apparently very impressed with me, since they called to hire me before i even got home from the interview! farewell to weekdays spent lounging around the apartment in my pajamas D: but helloooooooo moneys :D

i have two job interviews tomorrow, at an advertising place and a temp agency. cross your fingers and hope for a lack of scams, k? and also hope for a lack of getting lost, since i only set up the interviews today and have therefore not driven to either place ahead of time, awesome. (one is in, um, maitland, and the other one is off of i drive (which means there is about a 30 minute drive for each trip, according to mapquest), and i am going right from one to the other, so there is a good chance of getting lost. sigh.)

otherwise, i'm still just reading weather warden and trying to ignore the internet. except, okay, i will say one tiny thing: this is the best post i have read about this entire thing, and it is the first post i've read that hasn't made me want to stab fandom in the face, which is probably because comments are locked. oh, i guess that's two things. here's a third, as an added bonus: efw is, for all intents and purposes, an rp comm, so untwist your goddamn panties and stop yelling about people judging your posts without looking at the intent behind them until you can offer the same courtesy to others. honestly, i have never in my life been ashamed for being in fandom until i read the comments to that post. and now i'm done, and i don't particularly want to discuss this, especially with anyone who is currently foaming at the mouth. (also, thank god for getaway_machine, who for some reason tolerates me yelling at my computer and then bursting into the living room while going off on a long tirade about how much i hate ____________.)

oh, so a while ago i promised simplykatie a peek inside my WIPs folder, cos i let ashley look at a bunch of it at the ootp premiere. and now there's this meme going around, so i'm just gonna do that instead? (katia, you can still rummage through it when you get here, cos i'm not posting everything.)

am very sleepy, which is what happens when you have less than two hours of sleep, i guess.

job interview was a failure- first of all, i am not an insurance salesman; second of all, i do not do commission-based work; third of all, it sounded far too good to be true. there was no chanting though, so it's still an improvement on my last actual interview. also, i look very cute.

in my overwhelming amount of free time, i have been reading fic pretty much constantly, which is fun. i was (and am, i suppose) reading new stuff that people have been reccing and then saving all the good ones to del.icio.us. but then i got bored of that and started rereading some old ones, like shoebox_project and seven things that didn't happen on valentine's day at hogwarts, or maybe they did and there has been much flailing. oh, old school remus/sirius, will you ever not be the best thing ever? also, you all need to watch this video, which is called "hp in the hood" and is unbelievable.

other things i have been doing a lot of: watching these videos over and over and over and over (my favorites are dissolve, secrets (especially the one with bess), and didn't know, aka all the songs not on her album); listening to i would never by bess rogers and flailing at the james/lily-ness of it (heh); trying to figure out how to crawl into the fratellis album and live there forever; not finishing unpacking.

i can't believe i've been in orlando for a month!

before i get to the actual book, the pre-party and the midnight release were a lot of fun and hanging out with fannish people after so many years of being in the fandom closet is amazing and delightful and i don't think it will ever not be those things, which is awesome.
