i somehow managed to stop listening to "thank you lord, for sending me the f train" long enough to watch brigadoon tonight. excellent dancing! the rest of the movie was good too, but hoo-boy, did i love all that dancing. (the mixtures of the different styles is just lovely, but mostly i loved the ballet pieces.)

also watched the last new ep of project runway. no spoilers, but WHAT THE FUCK. that is all.

also finished the subtle knife and started the amber spyglass. my love for balthamos is beyond description, you guys. i had forgotten ALL ABOUT HIM, but now he is here and oh, i am so in love. i want a bitchy angel of my own, i do. (actually, i want fic in which christian and balthamos must interact for some reason. please internets, please make this exist.)

i need to upload some more ds icons. please stop looking at me like that.

here's what i did today:

-read three years worth of archives on mike doughty's blog.

-did not finish the subtle knife, cos i know how it ends and will miss lee too much and don't even get me started on the amber spyglass. (which i have never reread, and am therefore terrified of.)

-updated my facebook status to be more obviously about mike doughty.

-skimmed the new issue of everyday with rachael ray.

-blathered at getaway_machine about mike doughty. um, a lot.

-talked to sheena, and did not mention mike doughty, not even once. (in my defense, it was only a fifteen minute call, and we mostly talked about a wake.)

-talked to my grandmother, and did not shut up about mike doughty for pretty much the whole conversation.

-called my parents for pretty much the sole purpose of talking about mike doughty; was annoyed that they were not home.

-got really frustrated with the lack of music around here. which is ridiculous, but there you go. (I NEED NEW MUSIC. and i have like, three new cds coming to me in the next few weeks, which is fantastic, but i want new music right now. i don't even know what i'm looking for, i just know i've been hitting the skip button a lot today. grr argh.)

i'm still reading tigana. i'm also still really loving it. (although i don't understand how i am reading this book every day yet i haven't finished it.) i think baerd is my favorite and he isn't in this part of the book so i am fretting a bit, hence the updating instead of reading. but the other day i came to the thrilling conclusion that you could take four out of the five main characters and pair them off however you like and i would be really happy no matter what. and the fifth one is growing on me. i can't wait to finish so i can go on a quest for fic in which there is lots of angry sex. i can't seem to convey any actual emotion in my sentences though. hm. (sky_was_green, i think you should read this, even though i am still nervous about reccing books to you. heh.)

when i finish this i think i am reading his dark materials. ( spoilers for the movie? )

oh i haven't mentioned this, i don't think. we went to disney last week! it was my first time and it was much more fun than i thought it would be. there was even an impromptu dance party! (rumors of my inebriation have been greatly exaggerated.)

hmmm what else. oh, i have to do all of my christmas shopping tomorrow! ha! ha ha! ha. god i hate christmas shopping. where can i get a cool and not at all lame beer brewing kit? and what should i get my little brother? i am going to make a winter kit for the grabbag (hot cocoa mixes and mugs and i might even knit a scarf if i can find fun yarn while i'm out tomorrow) and i am getting my parents a gift certificate to a local winery that they have never been to and uh. i don't know, i really suck at christmas. i'll be able to do a little bit of shopping while i'm home, but i know i'm going to want to spend that time with my family and friends and surf taco so i am trying to get as much done as i can, but uh, i didn't actually leave the house today. oops?

i think i might start watching due south this week. hmmmm.

(also, the golden compass trailer? AMAZING. the last footage i saw was so terrible i wanted to cry, but it looks like they've got the animation working more smoothly and omg i am SOSOSO excited. there may have been flailing.)

while waiting in line, i made a breakthrough on a fic i've been writing for a really long time. i think i actually have the why of the story all figured out, so now i just need to actually write the rest of the story. unfortunately, the rest of the story is filled with penises and i have no patience for that sort of thing (as a writer. and as a human, i guess) so this could take a while. at least i've satisfied my own curiosity by figuring out why daemon is so goddamn furious?

i started reading the amber series by roger zelazny. that may or may not be spelt wrong. anyway, i am really enjoying it so far. and not just cos it's about a bunch of brothers who are fighting each other to the death but secretly love each other? um. also, there is one named random and i love him.

...

got the new abvh comic today, and the hardcover thing. why does first death's art blow so badly? and ( casting spoilers! ) as an added bonus, the new "story" in the hardcover thing is a horribly drawn, horribly written, inane, worthless piece of shit. SRSLY, who thought (a) that was an interesting story, and/or (b) that story was worth all the advertising they've given it? because i would like to punch that person in the face.

there is also some artwork inside the hardcover thing that i sort of love, but who needs cool art when anita's teeth are so big that she can't close her mouth?

AND WHILE I'M RAGING IN LKH'S GENERAL DIRECTION! on june 4th, she said she couldn't wait for the book to be released and for everyone to read it so she could talk about some edward stuff in her blog and it is over a month later and there is nothing about edward! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

last but certainly not least, ashley and i are halfway through season two of buffy. the proper reaction to the first angelus/buffy scene is hysterical laughter, right? heh. also, OZ. our love for him is kind of outrageous!
