i can't believe they found a way to make the abvh comics worse. i mean, srsly, an ad on every other page? OUTRAGEOUS!

at least the inside back cover was summer glau, looking all creepy.

(also, anita made some of the most fucked up faces. at least the badness is funny?)

-we have paused buffy (we were on "lover's walk") so that we can hopefully watch all of supernatural before the new season starts. booooooooooooys! ::flails:: the commentary on "phantom traveler" was most excellent, haha. (um, we are a little ADD over here, since we will be pausing supernatural in a few weeks so we can watch firefly with simplykatie. and i think we need to watch some avatar with her so she can learn how truly awesome lewis is.)

-the latest attempt to make me watch star wars was thwarted, which i am taking as a sign from god. :D?

-i have also paused the chronicles of amber so that i could reread the weather warden books cos there's a new one out this week. (fuck, i need to read faster.) there has been much debating of ages and timelines and much flailing over lewis and i am still enjoying the books a lot, which i was worried i wouldn't. that is largely thanks to lewis though, and my overwhelming love for him.

-ashley is reading the vampire diaries (aka, the much better version of twilight :D) right now, which is exciting and kind of hard because i do not want to spoil her but i want to flail about things. ::flails about things:: i keep replaying the fight scene from book 4 in my head and ndjacak GOD, i love it SO MUCH. favorite book scene of all time, yis. i need to stop talking about this now before i ruin the ending for ashley. ... ::flails!::

-new anita blake comic next week this month (wtf why are their pub dates so erratic)! i know i need to stop getting so excited, but EDWARD. FLAME THROWER. EDWARD WITH A FLAME THROWER. (well, that is speculation. but it's the second half of first death, which is about an early anita/edward job, and it looks like the valentine hunt, which is when he busted out the flame thrower. wait, that needs all caps. FLAME THROWER. better, yis.) let's hope they didn't ugly him up too much, yeah? also omg, they have the covers (or just random arts) of guilty pleasures 7 and 8 up, and descriptions, and "HOW FAR WILL EDWARD GO???" and omg, pls pls pls let my scene be in these comics :x (from the descriptions, it looks like my scene will be in 9, if it's in anything. november! oh november, hurry up.) the cover of first death is a/e, but edward has these really stupid looking sunglasses on, wtf.

-i hit 100,000 songs on last.fm the other day. since may 2005, about 11% of the music i've listened to has been by pearl jam. 2% has been "fool in the rain" by led zeppelin, which i think is hilarious. 2%! jenny is at 9%, and i only discovered her in january :D

so, how about some more cohesive thoughts on ootp? ( spoilers, obvs. )

(also, the golden compass trailer? AMAZING. the last footage i saw was so terrible i wanted to cry, but it looks like they've got the animation working more smoothly and omg i am SOSOSO excited. there may have been flailing.)

while waiting in line, i made a breakthrough on a fic i've been writing for a really long time. i think i actually have the why of the story all figured out, so now i just need to actually write the rest of the story. unfortunately, the rest of the story is filled with penises and i have no patience for that sort of thing (as a writer. and as a human, i guess) so this could take a while. at least i've satisfied my own curiosity by figuring out why daemon is so goddamn furious?

i started reading the amber series by roger zelazny. that may or may not be spelt wrong. anyway, i am really enjoying it so far. and not just cos it's about a bunch of brothers who are fighting each other to the death but secretly love each other? um. also, there is one named random and i love him.

got the new abvh comic today, and the hardcover thing. why does first death's art blow so badly? and ( casting spoilers! ) as an added bonus, the new "story" in the hardcover thing is a horribly drawn, horribly written, inane, worthless piece of shit. SRSLY, who thought (a) that was an interesting story, and/or (b) that story was worth all the advertising they've given it? because i would like to punch that person in the face.

there is also some artwork inside the hardcover thing that i sort of love, but who needs cool art when anita's teeth are so big that she can't close her mouth?

AND WHILE I'M RAGING IN LKH'S GENERAL DIRECTION! on june 4th, she said she couldn't wait for the book to be released and for everyone to read it so she could talk about some edward stuff in her blog and it is over a month later and there is nothing about edward! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

last but certainly not least, ashley and i are halfway through season two of buffy. the proper reaction to the first angelus/buffy scene is hysterical laughter, right? heh. also, OZ. our love for him is kind of outrageous!

i made guacamole tonight! there was a bit too much lime and the avocados were overripe, but it was still yummy. we ate it all with dinner though and now my belly hurts :(

we also watched season one of buffy the vampire slayer. !!! some parts have not withstood the test of time, but "prophecy girl" still makes us both tear up so i guess that counts for something.

hm, what else? oh, i read the harlequin last week. ( spoilers, but just for characterization. )

oh ALSO, we got squishees!! and donuts like homer eats! mmm, donut.

ps: i was supposed to post about what bitches getaway_machine and fluffymaru are, for spoiling me for buffy (apparently BUFFY DIES!!) and not friending me back, respectively. but now i'm tired so that's all i can be bothered to do.

um, yis. good comic. the art is still a little over-sharpened looking, but there are definitely some good scenes (and some previously unknown backstory omg!) this month and also EDWARD. so uh, two thumbs up!

bad news: that's not edward, which makes me afraid lkh was lying about an edward cover. :///// i mean, he could be a reprint cover, and ashley and i can't figure out how the rest of this story is going to be told in two books so there could maybe possibly in some way be more covers, but for now, i will just have to be a bit disappointed.

also bad news: MY MOTHER KNEW ABOUT THE HP RELEASE DATE SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE I DID. the internet has FAILED me. (SEVERAL HOURS! how does that happen???)

i have fic to rec, and at least one was absolutely amazing (the hdm one about will, if you're following along on my del.icio.us), but uh, i'm tired and linking things is too much work. i'll do it all saturday, after i read everything, i guess.

according to my brothers and cousins, it is not normal to ask for reference books for christmas and then, upon receiving them, immediately plop yourself down in front of the tree and begin reading them. which i guess makes me abnormal. which i guess is not too surprising.

(i did not get a unicorn, at all, which makes me kind of sad. i DID get a pink mp3 player though! and a sweet reference book. and my parents got tivo, which is almost as good as me getting tivo! also, i felt like i did really good with buying presents this year, which made giving them a lot more fun. who would've thunk it?)


HEY how about some fic recs? i am reading sporadically and vaguely by fandom, in case you were curious.

After the Rain (BJT, daemon&surreal, gen) is pretty much spot-on for the daemon&surreal relationship for me. i have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about how needy daemon is, and so this was just perfect and i love it.

Everybody Knows (Boy Meets World, corey/shawn, corey/topenga) is so in character that you will think you are watching an improbable episode of the show. the mannerisms and characterization were just SO. PERFECT. oh corey. hee.

A Matter of Choice (Dark Visions, gabriel, gen) gets inside gabriel's head so well. he is one of those angsty bad boys who i think is kind of overrated, but then i'll read something that will make me fall in love with him all over again. this is that something.

Maggie's Kitchen (AB:VH, there is some anita/jc but mostly i would call this gen) has a MYSTERY and is very much in anita's voice. and also there is edward. that is never not good :D also, the idea of jc hiring edward to keep an eye on anita is now possibly my favorite bit of fanon ever.

So, not to brag or anything, but my yuletide Secret Santa is clearly the best ever. He Gets It is Anita/Edward, and just. Amazing. It's exactly what I've always wanted from this fandom and now it's there and ::flails::!!!!!

I am about to send what is probably some very inarticulate feedback (hey, did you guys know that working in a toy store at Christmas will make your brain melt? and also that leaving all of your wrapping til Christmas Eve when you actually wrap for a living at the aforementioned toy store is a really bad idea?) but it basically all boils down to "OMG THANK YOU I LOVE IT YOU ARE THE BEST EVER" so. You should go read the story because it fucking rocks. (And omg it mentions The Scene That I Love Above All Others and I literally came thisclose to both falling out of my chair and squealing rather loudly, neither of which my family would have appreciated. SOGOODOMG)

I will probably post more about this whole shebang Tuesday (I HAVE OFF FOR 48 HOURS STRAIGHT OMGWTFBBQ) SO prepare yourselves for more flailing. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

tonight i am wondering: how do you file your music? for a lot of bands, i only keep a handful of songs on my computer, so i store pretty much everything in one folder. (exceptions: olp, cos i have their whole catalog stored, and common rotation, cos i used to have over 80 of their songs stored.) that keeps it simple, *and* it makes it easier for me to make playlists. but i've been downloading kind of a lot, and i am trying to prepare for when i have a new comp and can put most everything on here. so, recommendations? does each band have their own folder? what do you name your song files? (mine are band - song, all lowercase.) i am kind of obsessed with keeping things organized, but with this sort of thing, i am clueless because there is just so much! also, as much i kind of hate it, is itunes better for this than windows media player? i heart wmp like you wouldn't believe, but i have not yet mastered how to use it with big music catalogs and itunes just seems like it would be better.

also, why do my paul simon mp3s keep renaming themselves? do they realize how insane that makes me?

(i did not go to work today (my dad was in a car accident, he is fine except for some back pain, which the doctor gave him pills for, but my boss said we didn't have to go back in after we picked him up, so i was at the office for all of ten minutes, heh) and have spent my day organizing things. all of my email has now been tagged and organized. my bookmarks are next.)

lior - autumnflow. i really like this song, so i downloaded the whole album, but i haven't listened to it yet. i hope the rest is as good!

m.i.a. - sunshowers. i think i've uploaded this before, but whatever, it makes me ridiculously happy whenever launchcast plays it.

saves the day - this is not an exit. i don't know, but i really like it.

yellowcard - rough landing, holly. this was really amazing when i saw them last spring, so.

blue october - into the ocean. i don't really know if this song is good, or even if i like it all that much, but it definitely sticks with me after i hear it.

i still have $5 to spend this month (i have set myself a $15 per month music-buying limit, mostly to protect my computer haha) so what else should i download? i am currently into the more mellow stuff- lots of death cab, bnl, paul simon, etc- and the pop-dance-y stuff- m.i.a., rihanna, spice girls- but all suggestions are welcome!

(also, the new abvh comic is awesome. i would say it is way better than the first one, although i don't think i would like it at all if i wasn't in love with the book. it made me crack up repeatedly though, so whatev. also, i got a free limited edition print of jc with it, so now i have to go buy a magnetic dartboard. trust me on this: there is nothing more therapeutic than putting pictures of people you loathe on a magnetic dartboard and then throwing the darts as hard as humanly possible at their faces and/or hearts.)

i have some spoilers for the next lkh book (from her blog, so simplykatie says we should take them with a grain of salt but i refuse!) and since i am not filled with rage you can probably guess what they are, but i will put them behind a cut anyway! ( spoilerific! ) also, if you happen to find more spoilers, don't tell me! i don't care if the spoilers involve kissing or killing or anything in between- i do not want to know.

also according to the blog, the book should be out next june (!!!) but i forget what it's called. harlequin's something-or-other.

ALSO ALSO. there is going to be an eddie cover for the comics. i do not even have WORDS. (i do not know when and i have not seen pictures yet, sadly. i will keep my eyes peeled for more details!) issue two comes out 11/15, which is in one week! i will have to venture onto rt. 9 again :/

today was pretty much the best news day in the history of forever, and also it was the day that my dad finally became a real senior citizen, and my mom baked my favorite cake to mark the occasion, so i am marking it down as super-awesome!

(i don't have guilty pleasures right now and i haven't read it in a while, so i can't really remember his first appearance. with that said, i am hoping for december but thinking january is more likely. someone plz look this up for me as my personal researcher is nano-ing and i do not want to bother her!)

also, is anita's face at the top of page 11 not the best thing ever? oh man i can't wait for my scanner!

fyi, there is a limited edition print of jean-claude available with issue 2 if you order here, if you're into that sort of thing. which i'm not. sigh. if there's a special print with each issue though, there's *bound* to be one of eddie, right? i mean, there were those special anita covers with issue 1, and now jc, and then maybe there'll be a philip, but WHATEVER, plz just give me eddie. :(

Pre-order it on amazon. From what I can tell, this is it, except everything I've seen shows a different cover and a release date of 10/18/06 and possibly a much lower price? And everything else is billing it as a comic, not a graphic novel. It's the right publisher, authors, and art style though, so who knows? (I think that might actually be for the collection of all 4 (?) of the Guilty Pleasures comics. But don't quote me on that?) Anyway, there's info about ordering it from your local comic shop in the next link, which means I now have to find a local comic shop. Dammit.

There's some artwork and info here. The top picture's the regular cover, the middle one is the incentive cover, and the bottom one is the super-special incentive cover. I like the top one the best. (Is Edward there? The dude with his hand out is probably the bad guy, right? Is the normal guy behind him supposed to be Eddie or Phillip? I'm guessing it's Phillip, cos my luck just isn't that good. But what's with the Klan member all the way on the right? Haha.)

02. house. rapidly becoming a show i watch more out of habit than out of genuine interest or love. i lose interest in things very easily, but i'm hoping this comes back around.

03. little miss sunshine. i was so afraid to see this, because i absolutely hate it when movies get over-hyped, but i think this actually lived up to all the awesome things people have been saying about it. i laughed, i cried, i thoroughly enjoyed myself, and i want to go see it again.

04. in her shoes. i was surprised by how much i liked this! heh.

05. big fish. not nearly as good as i was hoping it would be. what was the point?? whatever, billy crudup is hot.

06. holy shit, have you see the artwork for the anita blake comics? i am SO. RIDICULOUSLY. EXCITED. actually, just the other day i was having an internal debate on whether i can still call myself a fan since i refuse to interact with new source materials, but then i saw the comic and oh man. it looks GOOD. it's guilty pleasures in comic form. do you know what this means? do you?? it means that i may possibly get the chance to have artwork of my favorite abvh scene of all time. HELL. YES.

07. i don't watch the office. i've never even flipped past it. yet the other night, i had a pam/jim dream. so if somebody got my dream (maybe it was logan/veronica?), could we trade back? because shippery dreams for characters i don't know aren't actually satisfying.

08. that same night though, i dreamt that veronica was in a scavenger hunt. hee.

09. um, i love sirius black. like, a lot. and the sirius bashing today made me kind of sad and angry, so can we maybe not do that anymore? kthx. (then again, the "sirius is cool and dumbledorf is a douche" stuff definitely made me feel good inside.)
